| Description | Layer overlying grey clay 234, this was up to 0.7 metres deep and was at 0.9 metres below the ground surface and was cut by ditch 48. It was pale brown streaked by reddish brown with occasional flecks of charcoal. To the north of ditch 48, it sealed a band of clean gravel which was 0.25 metres deep. To the south of 48, 233 mixed with waterlogged wood for 0.25 metres. This got greyer towards the bottom. |
