Dating Romano-British?
Description Baulk composed of one large piece of oak and two smaller timbers, virtually level, lying north-east to south-west. The north-east end stopped at slag layer 80. The south-west end probably originally extended further than as found, decayed. This was about 0.55 metres wide and 1.6 metres long.

Description A fill of ditch 48. This was above fill 94 and below stoney layer 132. A dark brown clay loam with frequent flecks and small pieces of charcoal.

Description This was a fill of ditch 48 lying beneath fill 93. A grey clay with many flecks of charcoal. Wattle hurdle 159 lay on this and below 93.

Description Fairly crude sandstone wall with larger stones measuring up to 60cm long forming eastern (external?) edge, and small stones forming western (internal?) edge.
Comment South of robber trench 50, within the building represented by wall 103, wall 95 seems to have been deliberately demolished (although it was probably never very high). There was a scatter of medium stones lying against the eastern face and overlain by clay floor 239.

Description Cleaning layer 'inside' wall 95. A brown clay underlying gravel surface 325.
Comment This was really the upper part of clay floor 99.

Description A grey clay fill lying below fill 94 in ditch 48 and fill 162 of segment 160 of ditch 164 - same as fill 131, but at the western end of ditch 48.

Description Surface below 47. A spread of flattish angular red sandstone measuring 1.5m by 1.0m on southern edge of robber trench 50 just to the east of wall 95. Sealed 118.

Comment Probably a clay floor associated with wall 95. The upper part of the layer was 96.
