The first phase of this project ran between August and December 2002. The fieldwork element of the second phase ended on 14th November 2004.

The second phase - Autumn 2004

 

 

 

The second phase of the project was the excavation of a series of trenches around and on the site of the castle.  This is took place on alternative weekends and ended on 14th November 2004.

This successfully demonstrated the presence of 15th and 16th century structures within the castle bailey - see below.
